Happy that the 2008 season is over...

It was not a fun season being a NY Mets fan; lots of injuries, too many blown games and another terrible ending. Game 158 was so painful and symbolic of what this team was all about, I had began my transformation into 'Winter Guy'; now it's offical.  See you in the spring!

Top 5 worst losses ever.

September 24, 2008 will go down as one of the worst choke jobs of a NY sports team in history (regular season). I am stunned, speechless, pained, upset, frantic and sick from what I witnessed watching the NY Mets lose to the Chicago Cubs. Never have a seen a team year after year get tight and not be able to come through. I really don't know if this franchise will ever recover from such a horrible game. The bright side is I can start to focus on things that really matter - like how sad the state of our country is. Oh great - there is something to cheer me up:(

Goodbye Shea! Goodbye Mets?

One of my closest friends has taken me and few of his friends to a Diamond Suite at Shea the last couple of years. I was able to get there extra early on Monday (9/22) and  walk around to soak in my final memories of the stadium. It was a good fun until the Met's rookie pitcher gave up a grand slam to the Cub's pitcher. The Mets got tight and of course lost another September game. 

Groundhog Month!

I am not sure I can take another repeat performance of the NY Mets throwing away their chances to make the post season. It is not so much that they lose; they self destruct. It is so painful to wait for them to blow the game. I am not sure which is worse - the Mets blowing every chance to win a game and perhaps a championship or me thinking they might not cough it up. I understand that this is part of being a Mets fan (30+ years should make me used to it), but every few years it would be so great if they could deliver. I am not greedy at all, a post season appearance every few years and a championship every 15 to 20 would be great. Please, just please stop the choking - I can't take it anymore.
